The emphasis on workers compensation now is on getting back to work. We find that it is common place for insurance companies and people they appoint known as rehabilitation consultants to exert undue pressure on doctors and individuals to return to work. Often it is not about a safe return to work but it is about dollars and about minimising claims costs and often we find too much pressure is placed on workers to go back to work too early and too much pressure is placed on doctors to change and modify certificates. Often it is done at the expense of the worker's health and safety. We get involved in this process at an early stage to ensure that undue and improper pressure is not placed so that the emphasis is instead on the safe and durable return to work rather than a return to work that compromises health and safety.
